Smartphones of 2011 : Short Preview

Due to ever change in mobile industry it’s very tough to keep all the updates about the latest mobile phones. SO this is just a quick post to take review of smartphones of 2011. Here we are not providing you more depth but it’s sure that you can easily enlighten about all the specs and features of these smartphones.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro: 

Release Date in UK: Summer 2011




The Sony Ericsson Xperia pro has a compact feature with a full QWERTY slide-out keyboard based on Android operating system. Its physical keyboard is most attractive feature. As the phone comes with a dedicated Friends application for sharing social network like Facebook, Twitter. It weighs 3.53oz (100 g) but it's thick at 0.71” (18mm). Its 3.7-inch scratch-resistant capacitive touch screen comes with a resolution of only 480 x 800pixels. Sony Ericsson Xperia shares some features of other Android phone. It has an 8Mp camera, music player and FM radio. So, we can say that it is one of the sharpest snappers in the market and a strong Android messaging phone to boot. The side sliding mechanism is interesting for the common user.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc:

Sony Ericsson has introduced a new Smartphone the Xperia Arc. The hardware is extremely impressive, both in terms of looks and performance. The Arc is a thin profile, Arc-styled slab handset measuring just 8.7mm in thickness at its thinnest point. Still it offers a wide 4.2-inch FWVGA capacitive multi-touch display for web browsing and video playback. The Xperia Arc runs on Android system 2.3 Gingerbread. It comes with Adobe Flash 10.1 support for the browser built-in, as well as the 3G WI-Fi. The new Xperia Arc sports an 8.1 megapixel autofocus camera and the ability to record 720p HD video.  It’s very attractive with its magically thin body and gazed adoringly into its dazzling Reality Display.

HTC Desire S:

The HTC Desire S has arrived from its predecessor in The Android Race. The original Desire was hardly an ugly device, that’s why Desire S makes it look positively husky by comparison. Its entire body is made from complete piece of metal, giving it a solid feel. It has 3.7 inch display with 480 x 800 resolutions. It runs on same operating system that is Android 2.3 with HTC sense. Photos and video captured by Desire S at 5MP with auto focus and LED flash and 720p HD recording. The Desire S has packed 768 Mb RAM and 1 GHz scorpion Processor with Adreno 205 GPU. The HTC Desire led the revolution, but the Desire S could also hit that rabble.

HP Veer:

Release Date in UK: May 2011



HP Veer is a part of the first heap of smartphones coming out of HP following its purchase of Palm. It is not an ordinary smartphone because of its small and attractive design measuring 2.6 inches display screen. Its look is similar from Apple’s latest iPod nano design.  It’s a very small size with extended QWERTY keypad. Although it’s clear and bright, and the UI is scaled up so that it's perfectly readable for people with regular vision. It sports 5 megapixels autofocus camera with Geo-tagging features. Performance is classy because of 800MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 7230 processor. It has 8GB of internal storage and of course webOS 2.1 for an OS. The price of the Veer is low so there is no barrier to entry .It is cheap enough that students can buy easily from their pocket money.

Samsung Galaxy S2:

The highlight of galaxy S2 is the 125.30 x 66.10 x 8.49 mm screen, which consolidates super AMOLED Plus technology with 116g weight. The phone feels comfortable in the hand of the user and this lightweight device sports a sleek visual design. Samsung galaxy s2 has 1.0GHz dual core processor. Due to this it is one of the fastest mobile we have used. So we can easily browse a page, swapping of application in a few second and seems to manage all works in a frequent way. Samsung galaxy s2 boasts 8 megapixels. It’s still image quality is very clear and natural. The S2 shoots HD video at 720p and 1080p at 30fps and results are good; it’s smooth, with natural colors. The Galaxy S2 is running on Android 2.3 operating system introduces many new functions and applications for users to experience a rich multimedia environment.
