Motorola Xoom Vs. HTC Flyer : Quite Fair Fight Between Two Tablets



Its head to head time again between two tablets. I'm going to compare two tablets, namely, Motorola Xoom and HTC Flyer. Although, making such a comparison between the two most popular tablets is not that easy. But I'm here to compare between the two and to help you people find the best gadget and which is worth to your pockets. Both the tablets have got well deserved reputation in theor own perspectives, so it is really a tough war between the two.  Let's face this war and discuss their specs.

Operating System and Hardware:-

The Motorola Xoom runs on Google's Android v3.0 HoneyComb operating system and powered by 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 AP20H Dual Core processor, while the HTC Flyer runs on Google's Android v2.3 Gingerbread operating system and powered by 1.5GHz processor. Clearly, Xoom stands powerful against Flyer in terms of both OS and processor. Its no way to doubt that the dual core processor will beat this tiny single core processor.

Display Size:-
The Motorola Xoom flaunts wide 10.1 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen with a supprt for 16M colors. It is having a superb resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels plus various sensor capabilitites like accelerometer sensor, Multi-touch input method and Gyroscope sensor.
The HTC Flyer is having a smaller screen with 7-inches with LCD capacitive touchscreen with a support for 16M colors. It has got resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. It also includes variosu sensor features. Most importantly, it has got Handwritng recognition feature and HTC Sense UI.
Hence, we can conclude that its a draw here in terms of display and size.

Weight:-

The Motorola Xoom weighs 730 grams and measures dimensions with 249.1 x 167.8 x 12.9 mm. While, HTC Flyer is just 420.8 grams and measures dimensions with 195.4 x 122 x 13.2 mm. It seems HTC Flyer is small but sits comfortably in the hand, thanks to its neat construction and good balance. Hence, Flyer beats Xoom in terms of Weight.

Camera:-
The Motorola Xoom has got two camera. It comes with 5MP rear facing camera featuring auto focus and dual LED flash light. It has also got 2MP front facing camera with a support for video calling. However, the HTC Flyer got two cameras as well but with lesser megapixels. It boasts 5MP rear facing camera and 1.3 MP front facing camera. Again, Xooms wins in terms camera feature.

Storage:-
The Motorola Xoom comes with 32GB of internal memory with 1GB of RAM plus microSD card support of up to 32GB. HTC Flyer also ofers 32GB of internal memory, 1GB RAM and up to 32GB of memory expansion via microSD card slot. There is not much difference here between the two, hence we call it draw.

Connectivity:-
The Motorola Xoom is showing its strength with a few extra connectivity options with Bluetooth 2.1 with A2dp and EDR, wi-fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual band, wi-fi hotspot, microUSB 2.0, HDMI 1.4, DLNA and 3.5mm audio jack. The HTC Flyer supports Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP, Wi-fi 802.11 b/g/n, microUSB 2.0 and 3.5mm audio jack. Its now east to make the Xoom as the winning tablet with few more connectivity options.

Conclusion:-

The Motorola Xoom wins in many of the comparison points above. But, we still say it is a fair fight to some extent. But to declare a winner, Motorola Xoom is the clear winner.
